and thank you for your kind words as well. I have not heard of Tanguy. I dont know much of anything of other artists, all I do know is from my own research. But I just looked him up, and some of his work I like, but I dont think I found enough to be considered a fan. But I couldnt find whole lot, and the content of his work seems as if there isnt much. But that's just the ignorant part of me. (Ignorant meaning uninformed, of course) But I really like "The Ribbon of Extremes" That is the only one that kept me gazing for a few minutes.

Also, you said above, you started as a fan of Dali and then began to stray from him, thats where I am now. I'm straying from him, it turns out that the majority of his work I dislike. But the ones I do like, I like a lot. Anyway, do you have any artists that you may think I could have a positive opinion of? I would appreciate a new look from an artist.

Hmmm, i thought for sure your work was influenced by Yves Tanguy since he does similar looking things. Oops, I stand corrected :-)
As far as other artists that you may like, i will throw some names out for you to search for on Google.com if you like. These are some of the more current ones (that i like) that are still alive and do some amazing work: Odd Nerdrum (Hes an extremely amazing master painter), Mark Ryden, Joe Sorren, Jacek Yerka, Beksinski.
Surreal artists who are long gone (dead) that you may like are: Giorgio de Chirico, Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, Yves Tanguy, Paul Delvaux.

Those are just some that i can think of quickly. You may not like some because there are a few different styles and i am not sure what your tastes are. Rene Magritte, De Chirico, Nerdrum are my favs. Hope that gives you something that suits your tastes.
Good luck and keep making great art. :D

Fascinating! This reminds me of the works of Salvador Dali:) Great shading- how in paint do you get shades to look so subtle and realistic? Do you keep adding layer over layer of paint(glazing?) Very interesting:thumbsup:

Thank you. Dali was one of my first influences but i eventually strayed away later to other favorites..magritte, de Chirico, tanguy..so many.
Re: paint... you can layer paint in glazes..which i do more of now and getter better results. Or, you can just battle the oils and make sure u understand color and application technique. Painting thin helps....just keep building up paint..scrape some of it away , dont be afraid to deconstruct what you already have done sometimes. This by far, isnt my best painting..technique wise..i was/am still learning. Oils are very tough to master and you can never learn enough.
Its a shame the scan isnt as vivid as the painting in real life....i always make sure my paintings pop with clean color and more vivid colors than the scans show. Thanks again!!

Thanks for the explanation- I will keep it in mind:) I just got a book going over the basics of oil and other mediums so maybe that will help me figure some more stuff out. Best wishes:rose:
